Space and type
Space is the first factor: the area the humidifier must serve, and whether it is one room, a large open space, or a whole home. A humidifier sized for a room will not serve a whole home, and a humidifier sized for a whole home will overwhelm a room. The room-sizing guide explains how space narrows the type, and the household category page explains the types themselves.
Type is the second factor: whole-home, room, large-room, basement, greenhouse, or commercial forms, each serving a different space and use. The type should fit the space and the use together: a basement type for a basement, a greenhouse type for a greenhouse, a room type for a room. A type chosen for size alone, without the use, may serve the area but not the need.
Maintenance and noise
Maintenance is the third factor: how often the humidifier must be cleaned, whether it uses filters or wicks, and how easily its parts can be reached. A humidifier that is hard to clean will be cleaned rarely, and a humidifier that is cleaned rarely will perform poorly and smell. Maintenance should be judged honestly: a buyer who will not clean weekly should not choose a type that needs weekly cleaning.
Noise is the fourth factor: how loudly the humidifier runs, and whether it will disturb sleep, conversation, or work. A bedroom humidifier must be quiet enough for sleep, while a commercial humidifier can be louder, because its space is larger and noisier. Noise should be judged in the room it will serve, not in a showroom, because rooms amplify and muffle differently.
What the factors do not tell you
The factors tell you how to judge a humidifier type. They do not tell you the specification of a specific humidifier, the quantity terms, the lead time, or the certificates for your market. Those answers come from the specification for the exact type, confirmed in the inquiry, not from a general guide. A buyer who assumes a specification from a guide alone will assume wrongly.
The factors also do not tell you the price. Price follows the specification and the quantity, confirmed in the inquiry, not the guide. A guide that quoted prices would be quoting figures it cannot evidence, and this guide does not.
Before payment, confirm the minimum order quantity and lead time for your order. Certificates are available upon request.
